Broombank Bed and Breakfast

A warm welcome is assured with personal service at all times to make your stay comfortable and pleasurable. We strive to ensure that our guests will have a pleasant stay with us and want to visit again, as many of our visitors do year after year.

Broombank is a modern and comfortable bungalow in a quiet area of Ullapool with very little traffic. Open views to the hills and down Lochbroom to the Summer Isles allow guests to appreciate the true beauty of the Highlands but within a few minutes walk of the village centre.

The Stornoway ferry terminal and harbour are only a ten-minute walk away offering trips to the Hebrides or the Summer Islands on the local cruise boats. An ideal place to stay for golfing, climbing, walking and for fishing enthusiasts you can fish in a stretch of the Ullapool river which is directly below Broombank.

Bedrooms

Broombank has a twin room and two double rooms. All rooms are on the ground floor so no lugging heavy suitcases up flights of stairs. They are equipped with colour televions, hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities, and we will make available any reasonably requested items.

The twin room has an ensuite bathroom and looks out onto the garden at the rear of the house.

Both double rooms have ensuite showers and toilets and look out onto Lochbroom and across to Ullapool Golf Course.

Breakfast & Facilities

In the morning sit and watch the ferry from Lewis come down the loch and the local fishing boats leave to work while you enjoy a full Scottish breakfast consisting of:
Orange Juice,
Cereals,
Fresh Fruit,
followed by:
Bacon,
Eggs (scrambled poached or fried)
Mushrooms and Tomato.
also available:
Sausage, Black/White Pudding, if you so desire the choice is yours!
Vegetarian breakfasts are also available.
Alternatively you can always opt for a hearty bowl of porridge!

In the evening if you wish, sit and relax in the lounge/breakfast room and watch the sun setting behind the Summer Isles shimmering across Lochbroom. Broombank offers a beautiful open view of the Loch and Islands that can provide breathtaking sunsets and a true appreciation of the Highland surroundings.

The lounge also offers guests a selection of literature in English, French, German and Italian. Better still, why not write those promised postcards.

Ullapool

	Ullapool is on the coast of the North West Highlands of Scotland. Settlements dating back to the Picts and Vikings surround the village, though the village as it is today was established as a fishing station in the 1700's and there is still a considerable influence from the sea, both the local fishing fleet and many visiting boats from the E.C. and as far a field as Africa and Russia.
Ullapools' location offers visitors a fabulous base to tour the Highlands. We are 60 miles North of Inverness where there is rail and air links to all of the UK. The ferry terminal at Ullapool harbour runs a daily service to the Isle of Lewis. Routes south of Ullapool pass through Gairloch and Poolewe to Kyle of Lochalsh and the bridge to Skye. North takes travelers through LochInver and offers a choice of routes to the Northern coast and John O'Groats through locations such as Dornoch - recently publicised by a wee Highland wedding.
Things to do. There is a choice of activities for all tastes in and around Ullapool. The surrounding countryside offers limitless walking and climbing and local companies can arrange climbs for those needing assistance. There is a choice of cruises running from Ullapool harbour that take trips to Lochbroom and the Summer Islands. The Summer Queen even lands on Tanera Mhor, where the last independent Post Office in the UK still makes its own stamps. There are numerous local pubs and restaurants offering the chance to sample the local produce some of which is landed at the harbour the evening it is served! Many of the bars have live music in the evenings ranging from contemporary to traditional folk. Ullapool leisure centre has a pool, climbing wall, fitness suite and ball courts. Ullapool Golf Course is a nine hole course along the banks of Lochbroom. Lochbroom FM not only entertains the local area but offers courses in working in radio. Below Broombank, the river offers the chance to fish for salmon that can be seen jumping in the pools. Whatever your demands, Ullapool offers something, and all in a beautiful and unspoilt part of Scotland where you can appreciate nature and relax.
Getting Here Driving: we are approximately 60 miles North West of Inverness on the A835. Flying: Inverness airport has regular flights from London, and many other British and European destinations. The airport is on 01463 232471 Try British Airways and EasyJet for flight details. Train details to Inverness are available from ScotRail, and Inverness Station on 01463 238924. The bus link for the Stornoway ferry provides Ullapool with regular buses to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
